    Seniors' Report

    bigpicSenior championship concluded on Saturday 26 Aug. Congratulations to Stewart Abernethy on defending his title, against Steven Young.

    The third senior event of the year, Senior Open Texas Scramble was a great success, on Tuesday 22 Aug. Many thanks to Carol Downes, Bill Perston, Robert Wylie and Peter Wharton for their help on the day.

    Congratulations to B. Cheyne, D.Murray, J.Kane and J.Green achieving a score of 56.9.

    A good mixture of Kirkhill and visitor teams picked up both main and on course prizes. A successful first run at this form of competition here at Kirkhill, will hopefully be repeated next year. Full details of results are posted on senior notice board.

    Senior Open was held on Wednesday 2 Aug. A successful day, despite some computer/system faults. The winners of the main trophies were both visitors;
    D Wright(Braehead GC) had the lowest nett score, 65
    and
    D Mclaughlin(Bothwell Castle) the lowest Scratch score, 72

    This has been run by Bill Perston for the last 10 years or so. Bill has decided to pass this onto someone else, the Senior section and the club in general are grateful for all that Bill has done for our seniors.

    The senior away day is to Pumpherston GC on Thursday 31 Aug. Many thanks to Alan Byrne for organising this, and to Robert Wylie for standing in at the last minute.

    The Senior section had a very enjoyable day out at Millport Senior open, on Wednesday 9th Aug, for once the weather was kind, pity the course was not as kind. We did, however, come away with some prizes, congratulations to all who did pick up a prize. Many thanks to Robert Wylie for, once again, organising this.

    Only one more senior medal to be played, on Wednesday 13 September, at the moment Duncan Hughes looks to be favourite for the Alistair Mackenzie trophy, John Brewster & Jim Gorman are tied 2nd, 3 shots behind.

    Season is almost over, a reminder to all Seniors that over the winter period, from Oct to March, we have a monthly stableford/lunch. This is normally on the last Thursday of each month, meet at 9.15 to start at 9.45, ALL seniors are welcome. First of the winter season will be on Thursday 26 Oct.
